Astroparticle Physics Courses in India is a relatively modern field of study involving astronomy, cosmology and particle physics. Astroparticle physics study deals with physical particles which are astronomic in nature. With the discovery of highly advanced telescopes and corresponding advancement in spectroscopy, astroparticle physics developed as an exceedingly specialized form of astronomy.
Studies in astroparticle physics deals with magnetic monopoles, axions, Neutrino astronomy and Neutrinos, and Gamma-ray astronomy. Each of these topics is specialized and needs mentions. Magnetic monopoles are particles with one polarity. Though there is no physical evidence of such a matter, theoretical calculations have been made. Similarly, axions are also hypothetical electromagnetic particles which are pulled by gravitational force.
Neutrino astronomy deals with that particular field of astroparticle physics where nuclear reactions of stars and supernova explosions are studied. Specially designed neutrino telescopes are required to make these observations. These telescopes even allow the observation of processes of the sun’s core. As the name suggests, neutrinos are neutrally charged particles traveling almost in the speed of light. Gamma-ray astronomy allows an astrophysicist to study the interactions between interstellar gas and cosmic rays, magnetic fields and electrons, and supernova explosions.
For astroparticle physics experiments, GLAST (Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope), Cherenkov telescopes, neutrino telescopes, and Axion Solar telescopes are used.
